Experience in Canadian federal government institutions
Lawrence has held several significant legal and policy positions at the highest levels of Canadian federal government:
- Legal and Policy Advisor at the Privy Council Office, supporting and advising the Prime Minister of Canada, the federal Cabinet, the Clerk of the Privy Council, the Counsel to the Clerk of the Privy Council, and the Minister of Democratic Institutions.
- Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice Canada, supporting and advising the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, and agencies including the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Litigation services and experience
- Foreign influence transparency litigation: In addition to legal, advisory, and compliance services, Lawrence provides litigation services in respect of judicial proceedings for decisions and other processes arising under the Foreign Influence Transparency and Accountability Act. This includes challenging Notices of Violations and Administrative Monetary Penalties.
- Supreme Court of Canada: Lawrence has acted as counsel in sixteen (16) appeals heard by the Supreme Court of Canada, involving issues of the highest complexity in fields including regulatory and administrative law, competition law, constitutional law, contract law, and legal ethics.
- Litigation in Canadian courts: Lawrence has litigated before the Federal Court of Canada, the Quebec Court of Appeal, the Quebec Superior Court, the Ontario Superior Court, the Ontario Court of Justice, the Court of King's Bench for Saskatchewan, and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
